For those who don’t understand,
For those who remember,
For those who can’t forget….
For the souls of our fellow human beings that have been lost so unfairly and for those who have left good strength through our hearts!
In the burned house I am eating breakfast.
You understand: there is no house, there is no breakfast,
yet here I am.
The spoon which was melted scrapes against
the bowl which was melted also.
No one else is around.
Where have they gone to, brother and sister,
mother and father? Off along the shore,
perhaps. Their clothes are still on the hangers,
their dishes piled beside the sink,
which is beside the woodstove
with its grate and sooty kettle,
every detail clear,
tin cup and rippled mirror.
The day is bright and songless,
the lake is blue, the forest watchful.
In the east a bank of cloud
rises up silently like dark bread.
I can see the swirls in the oilcloth,
I can see the flaws in the glass,
those flares where the sun hits them.
I can’t see my own arms and legs
or know if this is a trap or blessing,
finding myself back here, where everything
in this house has long been over,
kettle and mirror, spoon and bowl,
including my own body,
including the body I had then,
including the body I have now
as I sit at this morning table, alone and happy,
bare child’s feet on the scorched floorboards
(I can almost see)
in my burning clothes, the thin green shorts
and grubby yellow T-shirt
holding my cindery, non-existent,
radiant flesh. Incandescent!

More than 80 people have been killed after Greece’s worst wildfire in a decade hit the small resort of Mati, 18 miles east of Athens.
The fire broke out on the afternoon of 23 July, with strong winds causing the fire to spread quickly towards the beach.
Satellite imagery from 27 July by DigitalGlobe shows the region damaged by the fire.
Greek reports suggested that 1,500 homes had been damaged, with many destroyed.
Almost 200 people are estimated to have been injured and hundreds more were forced to flee to beaches and into the sea as the blaze consumed houses and cars.

You do not have to apologize, my friend. Sadly, life comes with tragedies and this is such an awful one. I had no idea about any of this, but I am very happy that you are alive and well. You were greatly missed.

A Special Friend
by Janice Lovell
A special friend is someone to treasure,
That someone to be with always a pleasure.
There to help when life gets too rough,
A friend by your side when the going is tough.
Someone to listen, a shoulder to lan on,
A friends always there when others have gone.
Will laugh wth you, cry with you, no matter what,
Faults and shortcomings don’t concern her a jot.
So, to my special friend, I thank you each day
And know that forever by my side you will stay.
Through good times and bad you’ll always be there,
My tears to ease and my laughter to share.

Αναρωτιέμαι, πως κοιμούνται το βράδυ;

Good morning Derrick … I live far enough from the place of the fire…..
I have friends there and they lost their houses and everything…
But the most painful ….. is the loss of people …..we are in a state of sadness….

we live in cruel times, where nature rebels against what we have done to her. I have accompanied apprehensively everything that happens in Greece, and can be sure, Efi, I am from here always sending my heart. you are well and that comforts. desire and our good God will help us to overcome this unbearable pain.

Good morning Fer !! I agree with you…
The world we depend on …. depends on us…
The Nature rebels against … but there are also politicians that are responsible for all these situations…….
Thank you for your kind words… I will visit you … soon…
I had a week to take care of my grandchild and i have so many to do now in office…
Have a nice week and no one live again such terrible things!!

They used to say :
“The strongest steel is forged from the strongest fire. Remember this as your battle rages, and trust that the final outcome will be one worthy of the highest praise”.
Personally I can not imagine the way to start my life from this “zero” point … with dead members of my family….. first of all…
It’s so difficult for me ….
Have a nice day Jo……
PS… i will visit your blog soon……

We are one soul many bodies. My heart goes out to the lives lost, and to the relatives of all the hapless vicitims. In time the spirit of human tenacity carries us through beyond the unsumountable odds…But till then
With deep belief in the power of positive heartfields pls accept my heartfelt prayers for restoring hope and faith to all the affected souls.
Athens is close to my heart as I have had the opportunity to visit it a few years ago and have left with very fond memories of the people I met. This tragedy moves me deeply.
