Γεννιέται ο ηγέτης του αγώνα κατά του Απαρτχάιντ της Νοτίου Αφρικής και επικεφαλής του Αφρικανικού Εθνικού Κογκρέσου Νέλσον Μαντέλα (πρώτος Πρόεδρος μετά την κατάργησή του το 1994).

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

He was the country’s first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid by tackling institutionalised racism and fostering racial reconciliation.

Ideologically an African nationalist and socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) party from 1991 to 1997.

When playing a mysterious vinyl single, Pia is suddenly able to travel through her life. A Single Life was nominated for the 87th Academy Awards® in 2015 for best animated short film.

Unfortunately Disney won our Oscar. Since then A Single Life has been screened at more than 200 festivals and it has been awarded with 40 prizes.

Sabrina Benaim – “Explaining My Depression to My Mother”

In this live spoken word performance, Sabrina Benaim uses poetry and expression in an emotional appeal to her mother to help her understand just how difficult depression is for her to overcome. As the conversation progresses, we learn that her mother has really addressed Sabrina’s depression either by minimizing or underestimating its grip on her daughter.

When I listened to this, I found the lyrics and level of emotion to be very raw, arresting and tragic at the same time. Sabrina has given a very eloquent voice to the silent millions who suffer from depression and anxiety every day.

Μαμά η κατάθλιψη είναι μια μετατόπιση σχήματος.
Μια μέρα μπορεί να είναι τόσο μικρή όπως μια πυγολαμπίδα στην παλάμη μιας αρκούδας , την επομένη μπορεί να είναι η ίδια η αρκούδα.
Εκείνες τις μέρες παριστάνω τη νεκρή, μέχρι η αρκούδα να με αφήσει ήσυχη.
Τις αποκαλώ κακές μέρες, σκοτεινές μέρες.
